When photographing an event, it is important to set expectations. Be clear about what the event is like and what the desired results are.
Seattle's vibrant event scene provides endless opportunities for photographers. One of the challenges is dealing with unpredictable lighting conditions. Event venues often have a mix of natural and artificial light, which can be difficult to balance. I typically use a combination of on-camera flash and ambient light to create a well-lit and dynamic image.
Candid shots are the bread and butter of event photography. I try to blend into the background and capture people in their natural state, without them being aware of the camera. These are the moments that truly capture the essence of the event. When taking candid shots, make sure that subjects are not overly posed. It's best to catch people in the middle of action, like talking to one another.
